  you can do it yourself, but i'd recommend that the 2nd time, after watching someone else do it.
  there are a couple of tricks to it, plus it's easier with a couple of specialized tools (a puller bar with cleat, the right table, gloves, vice grips)
  
  the guys at drumskullsdrums would do a great job, but they are in santa cruz - prob not close?

    I've heard that Drumskulls only repairs drums they've built these days.

  I know a guy in redwood city who does great work.......might be a bit closer than drumskulls in santa cruz...
